Finger Print Based Security System

Personal Safes are revolutionary locking storage cases that open with just the touch of your finger. These products are designed as secure storage for medications, jewelry, weapons, documents, and other valuable or potentially harmful items. These utilize fingerprint recognition technology to allow access to only those whose fingerprints you choose. It contains all the necessary electronics to allow you to store, delete, and verify fingerprints with just the touch of a button. Stored fingerprints are retained even in the event of complete power failure or battery drain. These eliminates the need for keeping track of keys or remembering a combination password, or PIN. It can only be opened when an authorized user is present, since there are no keys or combinations to be copied or stolen, or locks that can be picked. In this project the fingerprint module from Miaxis Biometrics is used. It can store up to 750 finger prints on its own memory. It can be controlled through its serial port. The microcontroller AT89S52 interact with the module. You can Add a fingerprint, Delete a fingerprint and Identify the finger print. To add a fingerprint, just show the finger on the module and press the ADD key. Now the microcontroller will send the ADD command to the module and the module will add it into the memory. To delete the finger follow the same as above. To identify the finger, press the Identify button and if the finger matches then the Relay is complemented. Also the fingerprint ID is displayed over the LCD display.

Fire Fighting Robot With GSM

The need for a device that can detect and extinguish a fire on its own is long past due. Many house fires originate when someone is either sleeping or not home. With the invention of such a device, people and property can be saved at a much higher rate with relatively minimal damage caused by the fire. Our task as electrical engineers was to design and build a prototype system that could autonomously detect and extinguish a fire. Also aims at minimizing air pollution. In this Project we design a Fuzzy based Microcontroller controlled Robot. It is the Robot that can move through a model structure, find a burning oil derrick (lit candle) and then extinguish it with help of a Blower. This is meant to simulate the real world operation of a Robot performing a fire extinguishing function in an oilfield. Fuzzy logic provided an appropriate solution to the otherwise complex task of mathematically deriving an exact model for the non-linear control system upon which conventional control techniques could then be applied. The fuzzy inference system was designed to act as a PID-like controller.

RFID based Blind man Stick

RFID is very useful Technology for Blind man to Identify the things like Buses, Trains, Railway Station and virtually anything we can think about. We can embed the RFID reader in Blind man stick and put the RFID tags on other things to identify them for the blind man and blow a siren or a prerecorded voice for each item which has RFID tag on it and is in the database of RFID reader of the blind mans stick. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. The technology requires some extent of cooperation of an RFID reader and an RFID tag. An RFID tag is an object that can be applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification and tracking using radio waves. Some tags can be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader. This kit includes Low Frequency RFID Reader and tags working at 125 khz frequency to fetch the information from the vehicle/train/railways station or any object to process it through microcontroller. Then microcontroller will receive the information from RFID Reader and detect the object from RFID tags connected to object and play the prerecorded sound for that particular object. The amount deducted will be displayed on the LCD display along with the Vehicle number. Each vehicle will have a unique RFID tag to identify it.

RFID Electronic Road Pricing for Controlling the Traffic

The Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) scheme is an electronic toll collection scheme adopted in Singapore to manage traffic by road pricing, and as a usage-based taxation mechanism to complement the purchase-based Certificate of Entitlement system. The ERP was implemented by the Land Transport Authority in September 1998 to replace the Singapore Area Licensing Scheme after successfully stress-testing the system with speeding Lamborghinis, Porsches and Ferraris. Singapore was the first city in the world to implement an electronic road toll collection system for purposes of congestion pricing. The scheme consists of ERP gantries located at all roads linking into Singapores central business district - areas within the Central Area such as the Downtown Core. They are also located along the expressways and arterial roads with heavy traffic to discourage usage during peak hours. The gantry system is actually a system of sensors on 2 gantries, one in front of the other. Cameras are also attached to the gantries to capture the rear license plate numbers of vehicles. Currently, there are 80 ERP gantries in Singapore. New gantries are implemented where congestion is severe, like expressways and other roads.

RFID Based Toltax System

It will help the hospital to manage the patient appropriately and provide them better treatment.

This kit includes Low Frequency RFID Reader and tags working at 125 khz frequency to fetch the information from the patient to process it through microcontroller. Then microcontroller will receive the information from RFID Reader and display the record of the patient on LCD display connected to it. Each patient will have a unique RFID card to identify it individually and display his/her record on LCD.

RFID based Shopping Cart

Long checkout lines at the grocery store are one of the biggest complaints about the shopping experience Soon these lines could disappear when the ubiquitous Universal Product Code UPC bar code is replaced by smart labels, also called radio frequency identification RFID tags. RFID tags are intelligent bar codes that can talk to a networked system to track every product that you put in your shopping cart. Imagine going to the grocery store, filling up your cart and walking right out the door. No longer will you have to wait as someone rings up each item in your cart one at a time. Instead these RFID tags will communicate with an electronic reader that will detect every item in the cart and ring each up almost instantly. The reader will be connected to a large network that will send information on your products to the retailer and product manufacturers. Your bank will then be notified and the amount of the bill will be deducted from your account. No lines no waiting. Almost everything that you buy from retailers has a UPC Bar Code printed on it. These bar codes help manufacturers and retailers keep track of inventory. They also give valuable information about the quantity of products being bought and to some extent by whom the products are being bought. These codes serve as product fingerprint made of machine-readable parallel bars that store binary code. Created in the early 1970s to speed up the check out process, bar codes have a few disadvantages:

In order to keep up with inventories companies must scan each bar code on every box of a particular product.Going through the checkout line involves the same process of scanning each bar code on each item.Bar code is a read-only technology, meaning that it cannot send out any information.RFID tags are an improvement over bar codes because the tags have read and write capabilities. Data stored on RFID tags can be changed updated and locked. Some stores that have begun using RFID tags have found that the technology offers a better way to track merchandise for stocking and marketing purposes. Through RFID tags stores can see how quickly the products leave the shelves and whos buying them.

RFID Based Security System

This project aimed to develop a wireless system to detect and allow only the authorized persons. The system was based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology and consists of a passive RFID tag. The passive micro transponder tag collects power from the 125 KHz magnetic field generated by the base station, gathers information about the Tag ID and sends this information to the base station.

RFID based Railway Reservation

Railways are one of the most important modes of travel all over the world. So, all their operational procedures have to be simplified for deriving the best results. One such technology employed for providing the best service by the railways is the RFID railway reservation technology. It simplifies the process of the movement of the passengers without causing any problems. The biggest benefit of such a system is in simplification of the ticket checking system. The ticket checking system now consists of a simple verification of the RFID tag which is possessed by the people. Also, this system is completely flawless and fool proof. Since the number of passengers going through the railways has enhanced to such a large extent, the operational difficulties faced the organizations has increased considerably. With the employment of RFID, it can hope to get rid of its many problems like increasing capital expenditure and debt management. This technology can help such organizations like railways in consolidating their revenues while cutting costs through better operations and asset operation. The implementation of the RFID in the railways can provide knowledge about the exact location of a particular person or his luggage. The RFID systems operated by the railways help them in making accurate decisions about managing the transportation occurring through the railways. Every operation of railways like train marshalling, train dispatching and managing train throughput can become hassle-free after the introduction of such systems. It will become simpler and easier for Railways to control the system of freight billing with the help of this technology. Passengers will also discover and feel the benefits of such systems. One of the biggest benefits that they can experienced from this system is the simplicity imparted by it in the checking of tickets. There is safety and ease also in terms of carrying luggage. The passengers can hand it over to the Railway Authorities and they can carry it in a separate bogie for them. The luggage will be returned to them when they reach the destination station. The luggage will be tagged to ensure that it is not misplaced.

RFID based Local Vehicle Tracking System

Operating a managed, busy parking lot can pose significant challenges, especially to a government organization that also owns some of the vehicles in the lot. The parking area has to be secure, with barrier-enforced entrances and exits. It also has to have an automated, efficient monitoring system that allows for accurate vehicle tracking as well as easy in-and-out access for drivers. It can be achieved by using RFID technology to identify and tracking the Vehicles in premises. RFID based Library Management System

RFID based Library Management System is a unique project to be implemented in collage libraries to manage the books automatically and efficiently. It will use the microcontroller and RFID reader to identify and manage the books efficiently. Every book will have a unique RFID tag and every student will be provided unique RFID card as ID card for library. When a student swipes his /her card before RFID reader it will display his/her details with no. of books issued to him/her. If if the student wants to issue a book then he will swipe his card and the book to be issued before RFID reader and it will issue the book. Similarly if the student wants to return the book he will swipe his card and the book it will automatically removed from his account if issued before to him. If some buddy tries to steal the book and pass from proximity of the RFID reader then it will blow the buzzer to alert the guard at the gate of library.

RFID based Event Tracking System for Sports This kit includes Low Frequency RFID Reader and tags working at 125 khz frequency to fetch the information from the player to process it through microcontroller. Then microcontroller will receive the information from RFID Reader and display the name of the player who has crosses the line first on LCD display connected to it. Each player will have a unique RFID card to identify it individually and display his/her name on LCD. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology already plays a major role in many areas. In business applications, for example, the idea of smart shelves or tables equipped with RFID technology has been around for some time now, especially for retailing. Current solutions, however, are designed to only identify objects in range, which is sufficient for most of the envisioned shop applications. For other uses, however, not only the identification, but also the exact position and orientation of objects would be interesting, if not necessary. A good example is miniature war games, where the current game state usually depends on what objects are located where, and, in some cases, how these objects are oriented. For example in racing game who have crossed the line first will be tough to judge if the distance between two racers is very less. In that case we will use the RFID Reader and tags to identify who so has crossed the line first. Each player will have a unique RFID tag connected o him/her to identify him when he/she has crossed the line.

RFID based Banking System

In this project, the RFID module reader typically contains a module (transmitter and receiver), a control unit and a coupling element (antenna). This module is interfaced with the micro controller and when the card is brought near to the RFID module it reads the ID CODE in the card and then compares with the ID CODE of that present in the system and if it matches then the door gets opened in clockwise direction and the person gets in and after sometime the door gets automatically closed. Then to access your bank i.e., any transactions to be done then in the system you need to enter your user id and password using KEYPAD then if it is success you can access in the way you like to do. If the password is not matching then he will be given only 3 chances after that, system gets into blocked mode and it indicates this with a buzzer. For an unmatched card, it alerts a person around by giving a sound through a buzzer with 3leds dancing.

The significant advantage of all types of RFID systems is the non contact, non-line-of-sight nature of the technology. Tags can be read through a variety of substances such as snow, fog, ice, paint, crusted grime, and other visually and environmentally challenging conditions, where barcodes or other optically read technologies would be useless. This project can provide security for the industries, companies, etc.

This kit includes Low Frequency RFID Reader and tags working at 125 khz frequency to fetch the information from the user to process it through microcontroller. Then microcontroller takes the decision whether to give the access of the bank account to a particular user or not. The RFID tag is used to authenticate the user for giving the access of bank account to a particular user. The access will be given to the authorized user and not to all other users. It will help us to automate the Banking System and avoid long queues inside the banking counters.

RFID based ATM Machine

The traditional ATM was just a cash machine and the reason why that will not survive is that cash is being targeted for extinction with a specific focus from contactless payments. But since the erosion of cash will likely take several years the ATM industry has some time to evolve in a way that allows it to play a role in the brave new payments market. The ATM has to find a new role in life,That might be depositing checks, accepting payments paying bills offering advertising dispensing tickets, topping up contactless payment devices or even downloading back statements to PDAs but it wont be dispensing cash.An ATM with a currency dispenser includes a contactless card reader. The contactless card reader can read data from an RFID tag of a customers ATM card. The contactless card reader, such as an RFID tag reader, can be located so as to provide additional space for another transaction component. The contactless card reader can also be used in conjunction with a magnetic stripe card reader. The ATM includes housing for the RFID tag reader that is adapted to prevent interception of radio signals. The ATM is able to prevent dispensing of currency in situations where unauthorized detection of signals is sensed. The ATM industry wont likely argue with the inevitable dominance mobile payments, which also rely on contactless technology, will have in the future.

RFID based Voting Machine

Many secure systems, such as contactless credit cards and secure entrance systems, are built with contactless smartcard RFID technologies.

This kit includes Low Frequency RFID Reader and tags working at 125 khz frequency to fetch the information from the user to process it through microcontroller. Then microcontroller takes the decision whether to cast the vote of a particular user or not. The RFID tag is used to authenticate the voter for voting in the election. The voter can vote only once after that the tag will be disabled for further voting in the same election. It is a very secured way of voting in democratic countries like India

Time Operated Solar Tracking System

Commercial made solar trackers are a nice addition to any solar panel array. They help increase the time that panels directly face the sun and allow them to produce their maximum power. Unfortunately they can be expensive to buy. We decided to make our own solar tracker to see if we could reduce the cost. We did not want to re-invent the wheel but wanted to make it more affordable. We started out small and came up with the idea of solar tracking using time instead of using a device that would sense where the sun is and move the panels toward it. It will also reduce the wear and tear due to open loop system( There is no sensor involved in it for feedback system).

SMS based Anti Theft System for Vehicles

An anti-theft system is any device or method used to prevent or deter the unauthorized appropriation of items considered valuable. Theft is one of the most common and oldest criminal behaviours. Where the ownership of a physical possession can be altered without the rightful owners consent, theft prevention has been introduced to assert the ownership whenever the rightful owner is physically absent. Anti-theft systems have been around since individuals began stealing other peoples property and have evolved accordingly to thwart increasingly complex methods of theft. From the invention of the first lock and key to the introduction of RFID tags and biometric identification, anti-theft systems have evolved to match the introduction of new inventions to society and the resulting theft of them by others.

This is a power generating method from sunlight. This method of power generation is simple and is taken from natural resource. This need only maximum sunlight to generate power. This project helps for power generation by setting the equipment to get maximum sunlight automatically. This system is tracking for maximum intensity of light. When there is decrease in intensity of light , this system automatically changes its direction to get maximum intensity of light.

Here we are using two sensors in two directions to sense the direction of maximum intensity of light. The difference between the outputs of the sensors is given to the microcontroller unit.

Here we are using the microcontroller for tracking and generating power from sunlight. It will process the input voltage from the comparison circuit and control the direction in which the motor has to be rotated so that it will receive maximum intensity of light from the sun.

The power generated from this process is then stored in a lead acid battery and is made to charge an emergency light and is made to glow during night

PC To PC Optical Fiber Communication

The project PC to PC fiber optic communication deals with data transfer from one computer to another. It uses C programming and the serial ports of the PCs. The ports are programmed in C. We use MAX 232 to convert RS 232 logic to TTL logic and then an optical transmitter circuit to transmit data via fiber optic cable. The optical transmitter circuit has a LED which is matched as far the cable and MAX 232 is concerned. At the receiver we have an optical receiver circuit which receives data using a photo transistor and a MAX 232 again to convert TTL logic to RS 232 for the serial port at the receiving end computer. The desired baud rate can be set using the program. For transmitting data the program is executed once and whatever is present at the serial port is sent to the other Computer via the fiber optic cable. At the receiver the program is executed to receive data on the serial port.

Solar Lighting System with mini solar panel

The world cannot continue to rely for long on fossil fuels for its energy requirements. Fossil fuel reserves are limited. In addition, when burnt, these add to global warming, air pollution and acid rain. So solar photovoltaic systems are ideal for providing independent electrical power and lighting in isolated rural areas that are far away from the power grid. These systems are nonpolluting, don’t deplete the natural resources and are cheap in the long run. The Solar Lighting System demonstrates how we can utilise solar light to electrify the remote areas, i.e., how we can store the solar energy and then use it for small-scale lighting applications. Cellphone Operated Land Rover

A robot is an electromechanical system that has the ability to interact with its physical environment and which can be programmed or controlled electronically to do a specific task or to do an entire range of actions. All robots share the features of a mechanical, movable structure under some form of control. The control of robot involves three distinct phases: perception, processing and action. Generally, the preceptors are sensors mounted on the robot, processing is done by the on-board micro-controller or processor, and the task (action) is performed using motors or with some other actuators. The Cell Phone Operated Land Rover implemented here is basically controlled by a mobile phone that makes a call to the mobile phone connected to the rover itself. In the course of a call, if any button is pressed, a tone corresponding to the pressed key is heard at the other end of the call. This tone is called ‘dual-tone multiple-frequency’ (DTMF) tone. The robot perceives this DTMF tone with the help of the phone stacked onto its body and the DTMF decoder. The received tone is processed by the ATmega16 microcontroller with the help of this DTMF decoder MT8870. The decoder decodes the DTMF tone into its equivalent binary digit and this binary number is sent to the microcontroller. The micro-controller is pre-programmed to take a decision for any given input and outputs its decision to motor drivers in order to drive the motors for forward or backward motion or a turn. The mobile that makes a call to the mobile phone stacked in the robot acts as a remote. Hence, this simple robotic project does not require the construction of receiver and transmitter units. Some of the main components used are:MT8870 DTMF decoder,AVR ATmega16 micro-controller,L293D motor driver and 74LS04 NOT gate.

Remote Controlled Land Rover Robotics

Robotics is a fascinating subject—more so, if you have tofabricate a robot

yourself. What we present here is an elementary robotic land rover that can be controlled remotely using primarily the RF mode. The RF remote control has the

advantage of adequate range (up to 200 metres with proper antennae) besides

being omnidirectional. On the other hand, an IR remote would function over a limited range of about 5 metres and the remote transmitter has to be oriented towards the receiver module quite precisely. However, thecost involved in using RF modules is much higher than of IR components and as such, we have included the replacement

alternative of RF modules with their IR counterparts for using the IR remote control.

The proposed land rover can move in forward and reverse directions. You would also be able to steer it towards left and right directions. While being turned to left or right, the corresponding blinking LEDs would blink to indicate the direction of its turning. Similarly, during reverse movement, reversing LEDs would be lit.
